Topic 4-B Abundance
If there is plenty for everyone and we can all have what we want, how do we get it? The first step is to figure out what we truly want? By looking at others and their skills and traits, we can begin to decide if those fit for our perfect life. When you see a trait or skill someone else has, either appreciate that quality in them and acknowledge it or if it is something that fits for you, decide how to incorporate that into your life. Don't be afraid to test things out and continually work on defining your perfect balance.
When you see someone that seems to have the perfect life, would you really want everything they have? The good and bad? The trials and successes? If you could really see every ones complete life, would you want to be anyone other than yourself? Probably not. Take the bits and pieces that work for you and create your ideal life.
Look at everything around you and decide what you want. You are on the right path when you begin to understand who you are and when you realize you can have and create anything you want in your life. Remember there is plenty for everyone!
Questions-
Spend some time thinking about these questions or take some time to journal about them.
- What traits and characteristics do you admire in others?
- Do you want those for yourself?
- If so, how can you create that for you while remaining true to who you are?
- Who do you want to be?
- If you could create anything for yourself, what would it be?
- What is the first step you need to take to begin to create that?
Fieldwork-
If you have found things you want to add into your life, begin to take the steps you need to create that for yourself. Start small and keep building from there. Become the person you want to be!
Bonus Challenge topic 4-
The first step to creating your ideal life is to get a clear picture of how your ideal life will look. If there is plenty for everyone, what do you want in your life? How will your life look if you can have everything you want? Think about your ideal life and don't limit yourself. You can have it all!!
Enjoy the journey!

4A This Week's Topic is Abundance
Topic 4A-
This week's topic is Abundance. By abundance, I mean there is plenty for everyone. Sometimes it is easy to look at others and see what they have or what they do well and we may become a little jealous. If we know there is plenty for everyone, we can appreciate what others have and look at the parts we may like and we can use that information to create what is best for us.
Instead of being jealous, acknowledge what others have and allow them to have it. If you want something similar and it fits with your true ideal life, then create that for you. There is no limit to what you can create for yourself. Instead of looking at others with envy, appreciate them, get to know yourself and what you truly want and create that for yourself!
We can all have what we want. Come from a place of abundance and it takes away the competition and jealousy. What is it you want??
Questions:
Take some time to think about your answers or journal about these questions.
- What are some things you appreciate in others?
- What have you envied in others?
- Can you allow them to have that and acknowledge and appreciate it for them?
- If you know there is plenty for everyone, does it help?
- If there is plenty for everyone, what do you want in your life?
- Who do you want to be?
- What steps do you need to take to create what you want?
Fieldwork:
Think about the traits and characteristics you admire in others. Acknowledge what you appreciate in them and allow them to have that. Tell at least one person what you appreciate and admire about them. Be more willing to share what you think is great about others.
Quote: Tara Meyer Robson- If you want a limitless, abundant, loving life, make sure that all you believe is limitless, abundant, compassionate and loving.

3B This Week's topic is Practice Self-Care!
The next topic will be Abundance. Check back Monday for the latest post!!
Self-Care 3-B
Hopefully at the beginning of the week, you were able to take some time to practice self-care. Today, we will look at how taking care of yourself makes you feel. Look back to topic 3A to see more or start at topic 1A and work your way here.
Remember in this process to be true to you and move along at your own pace. If a topic hits home, spend more time there or if you have mastered a topic already, create a challenge for yourself or give yourself a break. You are in charge of your life and what you get from it so use the blog a resource, but always be true to your needs.
For some of you, practicing self-care may have been very hard. I know there are many people out there that give to others and only think of themselves if there is something leftover. I hope you were able to do a little something just for you this week so you can explore the different feelings this brings about.
As step 2 of practicing self-care, I want you to notice your feelings when you take care of you. By starting to look at yourself and your needs, and by beginning to take care of yourself, you can change your whole approach to life. Each time you do something for yourself this week, notice how you feel during and afterwards. Are you smiling? Are you happier? Is there a change from the way you normally behave?
Last week we went on vacation and I did not want to have any delays in my blog posting schedule. Well, needless to say, things happened that changed those plans. My plan was to do my Thursday blog posting during our layover in the airport but we had a major delay and ended up running through the airport to catch our next flight. So, I did not get a chance to work on my blog. Then, yesterday, I had other things to do during the day but I knew I still needed to get my blog posted. Finally, last night, I was going to sit down to do my blog, but I checked in with myself and knew that if I postponed the blog by one day and took the evening to relax, I would be much better off. I had been going and going and I could keep that up and feel stressed, or I could take some time for me and have a much better evening and morning! By checking in to see how I was feeling, I was able to make choices that kept me happy, which in turn made my interactions with others better too.
Questions- Spend some time thinking about the answers or journal about your thoughts!
What did you do this week to practice self-care?
How do you feel when you spend time doing something that gives you joy?
How does this change your perspective?
How do you approach others?
How do you approach life?
What is your perfect balance of taking care of you and keeping your tank full vs. taking care of others?
What does it feel like to come from a place of happy/full vs. rundown/empty?
What can you do for yourself to make sure you are taking care of you and your needs?
What will you do tomorrow to put a smile on your face?
Fieldwork 3B-Each time you do something for yourself, acknowledge how it makes you feel. How does it feel while you are doing it, how does it feel after you do it and how does it impact your feelings for the rest of the day? What does it feel like to have a full tank vs. an empty tank?? Do you see any benefits to practicing self-care? If so, what are the benefits?
Bonus Challenge topic 3-
One of the major reasons for practicing self-care is to improve your overall life. By taking care of you, you will enhance your interaction with others! This week explore others reactions when you are coming from a place where you are taken care of and happy vs. running on empty. Do they react differently, is your interaction better, what benefits do you see in your approach to others when you take care of yourself? Recognize your impact on others! How can you be your best?
I would love to hear your feedback! If you have any questions or comments, email me a coachgaye@redefinebalance.com.
Enjoy the journey!

Practice Self-Care 3-A
Last week we worked on Balance and started to define what your perfect balance would look like. Hopefully you were able to make some shifts so you are more aligned with your ideal balance. This week, we will explore how taking care of yourself can be beneficial to you and to the ones you love. If you are practicing self-care for the first time, it may feel like you are being a little selfish, but once you begin see the benefits, I hope you will realize it is actually healthy. Practicing self-care goes hand in hand with our last two topics; Happiness is a Choice and Balance.
By taking care of yourself, you are better equipped to help others around you. If you come from a healthy and happy mindset, everyone will see the benefits, not just you. Think about your friends, your spouse or your children. If you don't take care of yourself and you are unhappy, how do you think this affects them? Now, think about how it affects them if you take care of yourself and are happy? You have more to give when you are happy and if you have children, what better gift could you give them than having them be raised by someone who loves their life??
Here are 2 quick examples. On the airplane, they tell you to put your mask on before you help others. If you do not take care of yourself first, you are unable to help anyone else. Also, think about you car, if the gas tank is empty, you can not go anywhere. The same is true for you. If you are running on empty and don't fill yourself up, you have nothing to give. So, can you see how it is beneficial to take a little time for you to make sure your gas tank is full or you have your mask on before you help others?
Don't put yourself last and everyone else first. Be healthy and take care of yourself so you have more to give others!
Questions-
Either journal about the questions or take some time to think about them.
- What do you do for yourself each day?
- If you could choose anything to do for yourself, what would it be?
- How would it make you feel to take care of yourself?
- What is holding you back?
- Can you overcome those obstacles?
- What will you do for yourself tomorrow?
Fieldwork 3A-Explore how you spend your time. Do you put everyone else first or do you take time for yourself? Your fieldwork is to take a little bit of time every day this week to do something for yourself. It can be big or small, you decide.
Enjoy your journey!

2B This Week's topic is Balance!
Balance- 2B
This weeks topic is Balance. If you joined me on Monday, I hope you have had an opportunity to look at your current balance vs. your ideal balance. If you have completed the Fieldwork from Balance 2A, now it is time to take the next step. If you have not viewed any of the previous blogs, either start here or go back to 1A and work up to this one.
This week you will begin to work on making small changes to rebalance the things in your life. If an activity is pulling you one direction and providing no benefit and you could use that time to do something else you enjoy more, now is the time to make a change. Think about things in terms of the time you spend doing them and the amount of happiness or joy they bring. If there is an opportunity to replace something that is dragging you down with something that will put a smile on your face, let's do it! To determine if something is worthwhile, ask yourself what the time expenditure is and what your joy level is while doing it. These two will add up to your overall satisfaction level. For example, more time + no happiness = not worth it, or less time + lots of joy = very worthwhile. Figure out where things fit on your scale and decide where you can make changes.
Balance is defined as a desirable point between two or more opposite forces. Who defines what the desirable point is and what the forces are? You do! Your balance will not look exactly like anyone elses. For each of you, this is going to be unique to who you are, your responsibilities, your passion and your life. You can either go along with what life presents you or you can be proactive and look inside yourself and decide what fits best in your life.
It is ok to say no to things you don't enjoy doing and that are not in balance with what you need in your life right now. If something wastes your time and energy and provides no benefit to you, why do you spend time doing it? Switch things around and play with your balance until you find the perfect fit for you!
Questions:
Either journal about these questions or take a few minutes to work through them in your mind.
- What do you need to spend more of your time doing?
- What do you need to spend less of your time doing?
- What are you willing to change this week so you start to align your life so it is perfectly balanced for you?
- What does it feel like when you make changes that are true to you?
- What other things do you need to shift around in your life?
Fieldwork 2B- Be proactive in making choices for how you will spend your time. Before accepting a new commitment, make sure it fits with your balance goals. Think about the costs, benefits and time expense before taking on new tasks. Also, I want you to look at your current commitments and if something is not working for you and your balance, get rid of it!
Bonus Challenge topic 2-
Think about your life now and how your balance feels. What works and what needs to change? Now think of your life it it were perfectly balanced. What would it look like? What would you create? How would that feel?

2A This Weeks topic is Balance!
Balance-2A
I think balance is one of the key areas we can focus on to create our own perfect life. There are many different activities that pull us in opposing directions and it is sometimes hard to figure out what we should spend our time doing. For each of you, your balance will be very unique so this week we will take some time to review what you spend your time doing, what you enjoy doing and how you can make changes so you are more in balance. I want everyone to take time to look at the different places you spend your time and you will compare this with your ideal balance. When you look at these two groups together, you will begin to see what takes up most of your time and energy and you will get an idea of what you need to shift around to create your ideal balance. Look at the Fieldwork section to see more about this!
As a Mother of 2 children, I have struggled to find my perfect balance and I continually have to work on what creates harmony and peace for me and my family. What works one day may not work the next and I can not look at anyone else to define this perfect balance for me. I may be able to take bits and pieces of what works for my friends and/or my family, but ultimately I have to figure out what I need and what my husband and children need to make us each happy individually and as a whole. Yoga is an example of one of the activities that really help me feel good and feel like I am balanced. I know if I don't get to one or two yoga classes a week, I am not being true to my perfect balance. This is one of the things I work really hard to keep on my schedule because of the benefits it provides.
By taking time to look at your life now and to compare it to your ideal balance, you may notice some areas that are out of alignment. I understand there are commitments, jobs and families pulling you in different directions so I am not suggesting you become selfish and just do what makes you happy and forget about everything else. What I am suggesting is that you become aware of how you spend your time and learn what you enjoy doing so you can begin to implement small changes so you are being true to yourself!
Questions:
Either journal about these ideas or spend some time answering them to yourself.
- Do you feel balanced?
- What is something you need in your life to feel balanced?
- How much time do you spend doing that activity each day/week?
- What do you spend most of your time doing?
- What does this make you feel like?
- Do you enjoy the activity?
- What do you wish you had more time to focus on?
- Can you make any shifts in your schedule to take more time on the activities that are important to you?
- Can you say no to the things that don't enhance your balance and give you something back and say yes to the things you love?
- What are you going to do tomorrow to begin to create your perfect balance?
Fieldwork 2A-Place the following items in order of importance to you. 1 being the most important and 10 the least important. Be honest with yourself about how you feel! Change or remove any items that are not present in your life right now.
Yourself
Children
Friends
Job
Health
Home
Spouse
Extended Family
Pets
Groups/Extracurricular activities
Now rate these same items in terms of who or what gets most of your attention right now.
-Do these lists look similar or different?
-What does this tell you about how you are focusing your time?
-How would you feel if you spent the majority of your time focusing on the items that are the most important to you?
-How can you begin to do this?
I hope you are beginning to make some changes and I hope you are learning about yourself! Email me at coachgaye@redefinebalance.com with any questions or comments. I would love to hear from you! Thanks for reading!

Happiness is a Choice- 1B
Hi everyone,
I first of all want to thank everyone that has viewed my blog and all of you that have joined as followers. Also, thanks for all of the supportive comments. I really appreciate hearing those and it encourages me so much! I hope to create a community that pulls together to help each of you create something special in your life. I hope you will continue to come back read my blog, make comments and truly participate.
On Monday I wrote about happiness being a choice. If you read the blog, answered the questions and worked on the fieldwork hopefully you were able to see how your thoughts can affect your life. If you have started to listen to the messages you send yourself and if they are negative, hopefully you have switched the dialog to something more positive. Continue to be aware of this even when you move on to other topics.
If this is your first time viewing the blog, you can start here or if you want to go back and look at 1A first, you can come back when you are ready. So if happiness is a choice, why aren't we all happy? Once we make the choice to be happy, how do we find happiness?
I think many of us have forgotten what makes us happy. We get caught up in work, kids or life in general and we seldom go back and check in to see where we are. What made us happy 5 years ago may not be the same now so we need to check in pretty regularly to make sure we are still on the right path. Sometimes it is hard to take time for yourself, but if you are able to define what makes you happy and you work at creating that for yourself, think of the gift you are giving yourself and the ones you love.
Making a choice to be happy does not mean you never get frustrated or you never have things that happen in your life that are challenging. It just makes it easier to put things in perspective when negative things do show up. You can say, my life is happy and this is happening to me, but it is not going to change my overall level of happiness. You may even begin to approach the challenging situations by asking what lesson they are providing for you. What are you supposed to learn and how can you get something positive from the negative.
If you have decided you want to be happy, let's figure out what truly makes you happy and what it will take for you to smile each day and love your life even when any trials or tribulations come your way.
Questions: You can journal about these questions or you can spend some time thinking about the answers. Do what works best for you and your life!
- What do you enjoy doing? reading, yoga, crafts, spending time on the computer, getting a manicure.....
- What puts a smile on your face?
- If you could be doing anything right now, what would it be?
- How much time do you spend doing the things that make you happy?
- Is there a way to incorporate more of what you love into your life right now?
- What would it take to make you happy?
- What do you spend most of your time doing?
- Do you enjoy doing that?
- If not, and it is something you have to do, can you find one thing you love about that task?
- Can you take a few minutes each day to do one thing that makes you happy?
- When you take time to do what you enjoy, how does it make you feel?
- What will you spend time doing tomorrow to make you smile?
I hope that each of you will begin to look at what makes you happy and I hope you will each implement more of that into your life (obviously within reason). Figure out what will make you happy right now and create that for yourself. What are you waiting for?
Fieldwork:
